Austin was keen to "learn to be a lifeguard" but I think he only really got excited when we went to the registration a few weeks ago and he got his gear, saw the set-up and met some of the kids. Ever since then it has been an almost daily question of "how long till I start Nippers mummy???"
So the day finally arrived...
It was a chaotic morning to say the least, I couldn't believe how many kids and families were involved. Just in Austin's age group, Under 6's, there were 60 kids, and there are another 8 age groups, up to Under 14's. Let's just say there were a LOT of people on the beach!!!
The organisers eventually got things going and the kids were issued with their caps and welcomed to the club with a little ceremony, then we did a tour of the Clubhouse and beach, and finally got onto some games... running races, Tug-O-War and an Obstacle Course.
It was an awesome morning, a beautiful day on the beach and Austin had a ball, he stayed in his uniform all day (even wearing it when he went fishing later with Steve), and is already talking about next week...
Being issued with their caps...
