parties parties parties

This past weekend has left me completely shattered, it was non-stop eating, drinking, chatting and Santa appearances . . .thankfully we don't have much on this week, I'm looking forward doing nothing.

. . . on Friday night we had a Christmas get together with some friends
We each bought our kids a present and when they were distracted put them under the Christmas tree inside so they would think Santa had been. One of the guys yelled out "Ho Ho Ho" and the kids started screaming and running around looking for Santa. Austin got so excited he tripped and fell, tears and blood everywhere. It was all forgotten as soon as he got his present though . . .
The boys trying to put up a tent for extra sleeping space, after a few too many beers . . .they did pretty well though.
It was a fun night but I drank way too much and was not feeling very clever the next morning especially knowing I had our family Christmas party that night and couldn't just sleep all day

on Saturday, the family Christmas party . . .
My Uncle Jeff has been dressing up as Santa Claus at our family Christmas parties since forever, it's another one of those traditions that will always remind me of Christmas. As a kid he had me fooled for years, I can still remember that feeling of waiting for Santa to arrive, the anticipation and excitement.
Caitlyn (Uncle Jeff's grandaughter) staring up at Santa, probably thinking "I know that voice"
Lily not loving her first taste of a Mintie
kids tucking into their lollies and waiting for presents
very happy with his Nerf gun - he didn't let go of it for the next few days, and even slept with it

as if 2 parties in a weekend weren't enough, on Sunday we had more.
. . . in the morning Lily's best friend at kindy had his 3rd birthday party, we probably should have skipped it but it was her first party invite and I felt guilty as all her class were going. I'm glad we did, she loved it and they had a reptile show so Austin was happy too.

. . . then in the afternoon Austin had his Nippers Christmas party with fun stuff like giant slip & slides, ice cream and a visit from Santa. Santa arrived on a rubber ducky, looking soaked and a little worse for wear, the kids didn't care though.

then after Nippers we had a few drinks at Zubi with the staff and some regulars . . . what a weekend - sleep came very easy that night.
